GUESS WHAT?!! We finally have a new location and it’s spectacular! Come visit Spiral Herbal Remedies at 810 Washington Avenue in Brooklyn. Our new location has a TON of foot traffic and the shop itself is more than I could ever ask for. Seriously, I’m welling up thinking about it. It’s a beauty, just the right size, and Spiral Herbal Remedies is the only one on the lease. :)) When I started this business back in 2017, I never imagined such a great location. Spiral Herbal Remedies has been evolving and growing over the last 4 1/2 years. I owe a debt of gratitude to Karen Rose of Sacred Vibes Apothecary. I learned so much from her generous spirit over the 3 years of my training. She is has been a role model since. I’m also grateful to Artists and Fleas in Williamsburg and all of their amazing vendors. This is where I tested out my concept and learned about running a business. I had never worked in retail and didn’t even know how to use the square swipe mechanism for sales. New Entrepreneurs support, guide, and grow together in this space. Spiral Herbal Remedies flourished, so I decided to try something full-time and landed at Dusty Diamonds, a pop-up in Union Square. From there, I secured a space at the Shops of Soho. We were open 7 days a week, 8 hours a day, weekends, holidays, nonstop, (enough to make anyone nuts). Spiral Herbal Remedies did extremely well and dreams of a smaller venue with fewer vendors led to the creation of Ooooh!, a space I shared with two other vendors. Unfortunately, the timing was bad, we opened a few months before Covid, the foot traffic was not great, my partners didn’t return after lockdown, and I ended up closing the shop in January 2021. It was and a really tough year but all part of the learning curve. Since closing, I have combed every neighborhood and every street in Brooklyn, looking for my next shop. I searched online, saw a ton of spaces with different realtors, looked in Williamsburg, Greenpoint, Dumbo, Clinton Hill, Fort Greene, BedStuy, Prospect Heights, Crown Heights, Park Slope, Bushwick, Caroll Gardens, and Flatbush. I put in offers but nothing clicked. Then a friend suggested I walk up Washington Avenue towards Prospect Park. At the time there were about 8 empty storefronts on the street but one stood out. I called, got an appointment the next day, made an offer a few days later, and much to my surprise (!!!), they accepted. Now, here I am emerging out of Covid, with a BRAND NEW STOREFRONT! EEEEEE!!!!! I’m changing a few things inside and hoping to open next week! To make things even more exciting, I found a Chef from Natural Gourmet Institute, a Health Supportive, Plant-Based Culinary Arts Institution. Now Spiral Herbal Remedies will have a refrigerator full of freshly made, Plant-Based, Vegan, Organic Carry-Out meals. Taryn Clayton has been making these delicious meals for juice shops around NJ and NY for years. (She also teaches cooking classes and I’m brainstorming about a pop-up in the future.)Now you will be able to find all of your Plant-Based needs in one place. The food is to die for, reasonably priced, and the easiest way to integrate a healthy, organic, vegan, plant-based diet into your health plan.
